You gotta love the gateway to the American West, known by locals as the Lilac city.

All those beautiful parks, waterfalls, Spokane river, and some really great museums. But what really makes it for me is the small town atmosphere and strong sense of neighborhood community.

And nowhere is that more felt than in the many of the welcoming Spokane coffee shops dotted around the city.

In this article, I’m going to present to you a shortlist of what I believe to be the best coffee shops Spokane has to offer.

15 Best Coffee Shops In Spokane, Washington

I’ll give you a brief description of each of them, their address, and the link to their online menu, where applicable.

And without further ado, let’s get straight to it!

1. Atticus Coffee & Gifts

Menu

The Atticus coffee and gift shop is a cozy, brick-walled affair, where they sell locally produced roasts, and also delicious loose-leaf teas. It’s quaint and welcoming.

You can customize your coffee with extra shots, plant-based milk and syrups. They also sell cold beverages, cookies, pastries, sandwiches, bagels, and knickknacks.

They have a huge following on Facebook and have received a 4 and a half star rating across multiple platforms, such as Tripadvisor and Yelp.

2. Kitty Cantina: Spokane’s Cat Cafe

Kitty Cantina is Spokane’s very own cat café. And for those of you who don’t already know, a cat café is part cat sanctuary, part café.

Homeless cats get taken in by those in Kitty Catina, and customers are allowed to pet the cats while in the café. And if you were to fall in love with a little kitty, you can adopt it!

You will have to book your trip there ahead of time, and the owners warn that the cats may tip your drink over.

3. Indaba Coffee

Menu

Indaba Coffee are predominantly coffee roasters, and their coffee is available for both retail and wholesale.

They have an excellent range of coffee products, from packs of whole beans and steeped coffee packets to coffee-making equipment.

And they also have 3 coffee shops in Spokane, which have just the right mix of class and comfort.

The founder Bobby Enslow has won a number of awards and has been voted one of Spokane’s best baristas, and the shops have a big following on Facebook.

4. Hatch Beaker & Burr

Menu

This is a relatively new café run by Alex and Chelsea, who are passionate about specialty coffee and are driven to cultivate connections within the community through their coffee shop.

They offer excellent coffee, which is reasonably priced, and they offer several types of milk, and some really unusual teas, such as Willy Wonka and Rainforest Fruit.

They’re open from 8 o’clock in the morning every single day.

Boots Bakery & Lounge

5. Boots Bakery & Lounge

Menu

If you’re looking for somewhere really fancy with great-tasting food, you should certainly consider the Boots Bakery and Lounge.

What’s more, their food is 100% vegan, and also gluten-free to boot. They offer espresso, freshly squeezed juice mimosas, and even a few cocktails!

They have a big following on Facebook, where they have earned a customer rating of 4 and a half stars out of 5, which is matched on Yelp.

6. Rocket Bakery & Espresso

Menu

The Rocket Bakery is one of Spokane’s more well-established coffee shops, having been around since 1992, and has a very welcoming atmosphere.

When the time came, they began roasting for themselves and came up with an amazing espresso, their signature coffee, the AstroRoast, with its symphony and caramel and chocolate notes.

And in addition to their excellent coffee and other beverages, they also offer a modest collection of sweet pastries and some savory snacks as well.

7. Maple Street Bistro

Menu

The folks at Maple Street Bistro make some delicious espresso drinks. Not to mention all their homemade baked goods, all made fresh each day.

They’ve got bagels, cinnamon rolls, scones, cookies, muffins, and more. And they’re open for both breakfast and lunch. Their espresso-based drinks come hot or cold and are all made with locally roasted Arctos coffee.

And they also offer homemade flavorings too, including the likes of maple brown sugar, pumpkin caramel sauce, and more.

8. Revel 77 Coffee

Revel 77 is a great place to spend a little time, whether to work or simply to socialize. And they have some amazing coffee available. In addition to indoor seating, they also have drinks to go, and their half-gallon lattes have proved particularly popular.

But perhaps the most appealing thing about Revel 77 is that if you enter your name and email address on their website, they will give you a free drink. Better yet, it applies to any drink and any size.

9. Little Garden Cafe

Menu

This is such a great place to go for a coffee or a bite to eat. They have pretty outdoor seating overlooking rolling grass on Northwest Boulevard, while their other location is a favorite with the Whitworth University students.

They’re available for both breakfast and lunch, and their prices are very reasonable. You can get bagels, omelets, sandwiches, quiches, homemade soups, paninis, and salads. Occasionally, they also have live music.

10. Ladder Coffee & Toast

Menu

Ladder Coffee has been around for over 5 years now, and is still just as welcoming, like a living room for the city. It started as a small specialty coffee drive-thru, but boy have they grown since, sporting 4 different locations.

They house coffees from around the world, but they’re all roasted locally in Washington. And if you really enjoy the coffee there, you can even subscribe to have it delivered directly to your door.

11. Madeleine’s Café And Pâtisserie

Menu

Madeleine’s may have started as a small, family-owned catering business, but now it’s something of a downtown Spokane icon.

They serve up some wonderful gourmet meals, with a particular emphasis on French foods from savory Croque Madame sandwiches through to their great range of French and European pastries. Even the decor is French!

12. Arctos Coffee And Roasting Company

Menu

Arctos has some really great coffee – it’s all 100% Arabica coffee beans, and they roast them themselves in small batches.

And since their rather humble beginnings, they have perfected their smooth espresso blend which the locals describe as the holy grail of blends.

They also have a fancy ghost bear blend, which is nutty and earthy, and highly caffeinated, thanks to its super light roasting process.

13. Thomas Hammer Coffee Roasters

Menu

If you’re the kind of coffee lover who likes to try something new, then this is the shop for you!

They have an amazing range of signature espresso-based drinks that you should really check out! They also do some great teas, energy drinks, mocktails, beer, wine, and bubbly.

And to eat, there are breakfast dishes, hand pies, sandwiches, casseroles, and more. Their desserts, by the way, are to die for!

14. Meeting House Cafe

Menu

The meeting house is a great place to hang out with friends. And as well as the free Wi-Fi, they also provide handy USB charging outlets.

The coffee is reasonably priced, and their specialty teas are as well as their coffees. And the coffee is all organic, ethically sourced, and very tasty.

They serve both breakfast and lunch dishes from a simple and straightforward menu. And to save time, you can order ahead.

15. First Avenue Coffee

Menu

Their coffee is ethical. It is sustainably sourced, and it’s also both fair trade and 100% organic. And it’s all sourced locally from Roast House Coffee.

And thanks to relationships with local bakeries they also serve some great baked goods too. The donuts are particularly popular, and they also have vegan, keto, and gluten-free options.

They’re known to put together a new drink menu every season.
