List of Some of The Best Coffee Shops in The USA

1. Domestique Coffee (Alabama)

This first cafe is situated in one of the better music venues that Birmingham has to offer. This comes with exotic and laidback vibes that you can be sure will leave you feeling relaxed.

However, when it comes to sourcing authentic Haitian beans, then you won’t find anywhere that is better.

The brothers put a lot of effort into the quality, uniqueness and smoothness of their coffee.

If you are looking for a place to spend those lazy Sunday mornings kicking back with a newspaper or book, then you can’t go much wrong with Domestique.

They even have a cozier second cafe that has just opened nearby in Five Points South.

Address: 1024 20th St S, Suite 103, Birmingham, AL 35205

2. Uncle Leroy’s Coffee (Alaska)

Now in a city brimming with coffee shops, it was hard for us to find a stand-out.

But eventually, we settled on Uncle Leroy’s, as it is a place that makes coffee, community, arts, and music its central focus.

This place started as a bespoke joint where they were cooking up coffee beans in a frying pan, but given the fact that they’ve expanded into something far more trendy, that does not mean they’ve forgotten their roots.

Lots of patrons that we spoke to have said that they love coming here during the cold winters, especially at Christmas when they have a lot of great seasonal coffees.

Address: 2401 Spenard Rd, Anchorage, AK 99503

3. Futuro (Arizona)

Now, if there’s one thing we love about some coffee shops is how much they don’t want to be widely advertised.

Sometimes a good secret is worth keeping to those that want to keep it that way… and that certainly applies to Futuro.

This place is situated in a place that could be an old army bunker, but when you go inside, you’ll see a coffee shop that is brimming with exciting literature and art.

This is a warm city, so why not sit outside with an espresso and watch the world go by?

This coffee shop employs some amazing roasters and you’ll be certain to find your favorite blend of coffee in this place pretty quickly.

Address: 909 N 1st St Downtown Phoenix, Phoenix, AZ 85004-1902

4. Onyx Coffee Co. (Arkansas)

Next up, we have a business that started from humble beginnings back in 2012, but has since expanded into a thriving coffee empire.

This place delivers sustainable coffee within the confines of its Italian-style roasting plant.

This place has always made it their principle to employ only the very best baristas in the game and the fact that people come from the far corners of the US to taste this coffee really speaks volumes for the quality of the service.

This coffee shop is situated in an art space, giving you that relaxed ambient vibe where you can enjoy music or gaze and some of the art on the walls.

Address: 2418 N. Gregg Ave.Fayetteville, AR 72701

Kumquat Coffee (California)

5. Kumquat Coffee (California)

Now we move onto a state that is known for having the best of everything and coffee roasteries are really no exception.

This is a place where coffee is elevated to an art form.

This place specializes in getting the best coffee from all over the world (we would suggest that you try some of the Korean coffees that they’ve picked up).

This is served in a stripped-down environment, great for anyone who doesn’t like all the frills.

If coffee and unique blends of coffee are your things, then this will be a great coffee shop for you to visit.

The quality of the service is some of the best that you can find in the great state of California.

Address: 4936 York Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90042

6. Sweet Bloom Coffee Roasters (Colorado)

This next coffee stop started off as a tasting room in a roasting plant, but it has since bloomed into a coffee shop that is known for its panache and style.

This comes with a really wide open space, with a ceiling that is so high, you’ll get neckache from gazing up at it.

This is the best place for you to hang out with your friends and catch up on each other’s lives.

This also makes for a great working environment, with power points that will allow you to work for hours in relative quiet.

We know of many people who like to visit Sweet Bloom for some tranquility to read a book or catch up on correspondence.

Address: 1619 N. Reed St., Lakewood, CO 80214

7. Giv Coffee (Connecticut)

When it comes to environmentally friendly and sustainable coffee, a lot of places talk a good talk but do not walk the walk.

However, this is not the case with Giv Coffee, which makes sure all their beans are fair trade or taken from local growers.

The owners of this coffee shop have made it their mission to give back to the community, with a shop where the profits are not the topmost priority.

You can get a selection of home-baked pastries too. We can think of no better way to start the morning than with a decent coffee and a fluffy pastry hot from the oven.

We would definitely recommend their Maine organic blueberry scones!

Address: 194 Albany Trnpk, Canton, CT 06019

8. Brew Haha! (Delaware)

This is a famous coffee chain in Delaware, specializing in smooth and tasty coffee served up in their own fancy way.

One of the nicest coffees that we tried there was the lavender and rose latte, which petals sprinkled into the drink itself.

It is this attention to detail that has gained Brew Haha! Such a following.

This place started off as a friendly chain, but then decided to start brewing the coffee themselves, which is something that has only benefitted them in the long run.

This also has an ethical stance, trying to source coffee from local growers and offering them fair prices for it.

The coffee shop itself comes with a relaxed atmosphere and is often full of young professionals.

Address: 222 Delaware Ave Wilmington, DE 19801

9. Mane Coffee (Florida)

Now we move onto the Sunshine State of Florida, with a coffee shop that boasts some of the best espresso this side of Louisiana.

This coffee shop is in the business quarter and certainly gains a lot of trade as a result.

Whether it is a regular espresso or a homemade ice chai latte, you’ll get everything that you need for a solid beverage.

This place is open for most of the day, allowing you to bring a laptop and work if you fancy a change from your usual office setting.

This comes with Nordic-style coffees that you find anywhere else in Florida.

Address: 500 NE Spanish River Blvd Ste 7 Boca Raton, FL 33431

Gilly Brew Bar (Georgia)

10. Gilly Brew Bar (Georgia)

Aside from its positive and life-affirming Instagram account, Gilly Brew Bar certainly has the coffee clout to back it up.

This place is founded on inclusivity, being one of the first Black-owned coffee bars.

This coffee shop is very serious about its brewing, selecting only the very best coffee beans ground by the most professional baristas.

This place really is thriving, so you might want to get there early to secure a table.

This is a great place to hang out on the weekend. Gilly Bar advertises itself as not a coffee shop, aiming instead to change the whole coffee culture with pioneering techniques and community initiatives.

It’s an ambitious aim, but Gilly Brew Bar is certainly succeeding thus far.

Address: 5329 Mimosa Dr., Stone Mountain, GA

11. Koana (Hawaii)

Next up, we have a coffee shop that has really transformed during the pandemic, hanging on in there and surviving to become a valued center where the community can go to express itself.

This coffee shop can be found in the tiny village of Mountain View.

Whether it is pour-overs or cool brewed coffees, you can be sure that despite its sleepy location, Koana remains at the cutting edge of coffee brewing.

If you fancy coming here with some friends to chill out and listen to music on the patio while gazing at the scenery, then we can recommend no better place than Koana.

Address: 1555 Kalani St Honolulu, Hawaii 96817

12. Slow By Slow Coffee (Idaho)

Now we have a coffee shop that has tried all the roasteries in the world and as a result, they certainly know their coffee inside and out. They have made the effort to serve coffee by local roasters.

The ambiance of this place is the best that we have sampled. Coming with a rustic interior and serving counter that displays a luscious selection of freshly baked pastries.

This will really take you on a tour of some of America’s best coffees throughout history.

When it comes to paying respect and homage to the humble bean, then you can’t go far wrong with Slow by Slow Coffee.

Address: 405 S. 8th Street #155 Boise, ID 83702

13. Dayglow Coffee (Illinois)

If you are more into your coffee than you are into lounging around of sofas drinking lattes, then you might want to check out Dayglow Coffee, a place where some of the best coffee is tried and tasted.

This place has a preference for Nordic-style roasts, which is great if you prefer a more Scandinavian feel.

These roast coffees are generally lighter, which is great if you are looking for something you can pair with a pastry.

This is a coffee shop that truly cares about its coffee, and if you are into the tastes and flavors of your coffee, then this is the best place to go.

Quite frankly, there are so many other coffee shops that we could list in the US, this is only just a small section.

What To Look For In A Coffee Shop

When you are finding the ideal coffee shop in your area, there’ll be a few things that you might want to think about:

Is It Comfortable?

You might be the kind of person who is spending most of your day in a coffee shop. So it will be important that the seats are comfortable and that it’s very warm and cozy.

Where Is The Coffee Sourced?

If you are a fan of your coffee, then where your coffee beans are sourced from will be very important to you.

One thing that marks out the independent coffee shops from the chains is the fact that they get their coffee from interesting places, either abroad or locally.

Where Is The Coffee Shop Located?

This kind of thing will really determine the footfall of your coffee shop. Some people don’t mind if it is always bustling, whereas some people prefer a quieter experience.

Some coffee shops try deliberately to keep off the beaten track for this very reason.

Do They Serve Food?

Some places simply specialize in coffee, functioning more as tasting rooms than coffee shops.

However, if you are looking for more of an experience, then you’ll want somewhere that pairs its coffee with freshly-made pastries.

How Expensive Is It?

Another thing that might factor into your decision is how much you’ll be spending on coffee per week.

You might have to make the trade-off between how nice your coffee tastes with how much it costs.

Conclusion

We hope that our list of some of the best coffee shops in the US has helped you to determine which one you’ll want to visit.
